Individual and Family Therapy in Wellington

Play Therapy is for all ages during all walks of life.

Children create their worlds when playing.

In this reality, societal standards and what is “good or wrong” are wiped out in a space free of biases and judgments where a princess can be the dragon.

There is no such thing as a proper way to play. Allowing kids to move away from the rules encourages their creativity and development.

“Play is an adventure. It isn’t a chore. There is no right way to play.”

~ John Gottman

You may have some questions

Depression, anxiety, conflict, grieving, stress management, body-image concerns, and general life transitions can all be addressed with therapy. Therapy is appropriate for anybody who wants to make the most of their lives by taking responsibility, developing more self-awareness, and striving toward change.

Every treatment session is tailored to the needs of the individual and their specific objectives. It is customary to discuss the most pressing difficulties and worries in your life during therapy sessions. It is typical to organize a series of weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes each.

Individuals facing a particularly challenging task may occasionally request more time per session or more than one session per week. Therapy can be short-term, focused on a single topic, or longer-term, addressing more complicated concerns or continuing personal development. You may be requested to perform tasks outside of therapy sessions, such as reading a relevant book or keeping records to track specific habits.

Although play therapy may seem fun and games, there is definitely some structure that allows for clinical observations. At Healing with Play, we have mastered the fundamentals of Play Therapy by following the four phases of treatment, widely known as the most significant aspects of the play therapy process. Children follow a very definite path, and it is beneficial for parents to know what to expect.
