Individual, Family & Group Therapy in Wellington
Warm, Connected Therapy for All Ages and Stages
Therapy here is never one-size-fits-all. Whether you need one-on-one support, family therapy, or the power of a group, we’ll find what works best for you.
What Individual Therapy Looks Like
Individual therapy is a space to tune into your thoughts, feelings, and needs without judgment or pressure. It’s not about fixing what’s “wrong,” but gently exploring what’s coming up and why.
We support individuals navigating:
- Stress, anxiety, or overwhelm
- Life transitions or identity shifts
- Grief, loss, or unresolved emotional pain
- Patterns that feel stuck or hard to change on your own
What Family Therapy Looks Like
Family therapy is a collaborative space that includes two or more members of a family system. It’s not about blaming or pointing fingers, it’s about improving how you relate, repair, and respond to each other.
We help families navigate:
- Conflict, communication breakdowns, or major life transitions
- Parenting challenges or co-parenting dynamics
- Emotional outbursts, shutdowns, or behaviors that feel out of sync
Therapy With Kids
Play is the language of children. It’s how they express themselves, work through challenges, and feel understood. In our play therapy sessions, kids use toys, storytelling, movement, or art to share what’s going on inside.
Through developmentally appropriate methods, we help children:
- Build emotional awareness and regulation
- Navigate big feelings like anxiety, anger, or grief
- Strengthen relationships with caregivers and peers
Parents are part of the process, not just observers. We include you with care and intention.
Group Therapy
Sometimes healing happens best alongside others. We create specific groups based on what our community needs, things like parenting groups, kindergarten boot camp, and more. Groups aren’t always running, but we welcome inquiries anytime.
If you're interested, we can help you find the right fit:
- Connect with others who share similar experiences
- Build new skills in a safe, structured setting
- Get both peer support and therapeutic guidance
You don’t have to wait for a group to be listed. If you have something specific in mind, just reach out and we’ll explore what’s possible together.
You may have some questions
Is therapy right for me?
Depression, anxiety, conflict, grieving, stress management, body-image concerns, and general life transitions can all be addressed with therapy. Therapy is appropriate for anybody who wants to make the most of their lives by taking responsibility, developing more self-awareness, and striving toward change.
What can I expect in a therapy session?
Every treatment session is tailored to the needs of the individual and their specific objectives. It is customary to discuss the most pressing difficulties and worries in your life during therapy sessions. It is typical to organize a series of weekly sessions lasting 50 minutes each.
Individuals facing a particularly challenging task may occasionally request more time per session or more than one session per week. Therapy can be short-term, focused on a single topic, or longer-term, addressing more complicated concerns or continuing personal development. You may be requested to perform tasks outside of therapy sessions, such as reading a relevant book or keeping records to track specific habits.
What will play therapy look like?
Although play therapy may seem fun and games, there is definitely some structure that allows for clinical observations. At Healing with Play, we have mastered the fundamentals of Play Therapy by following the four phases of treatment, widely known as the most significant aspects of the play therapy process. Children follow a very definite path, and it is beneficial for parents to know what to expect.
What types of groups do you offer?
We offer CBT Groups, Interpersonal Groups, Psychoeducational Groups, and Support Groups. Each one is designed around a different focus, whether that’s shifting unhelpful thought patterns, improving relationships, learning coping tools, or building social skills in a supportive setting.
Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work?
Please contact our office to discuss your specific insurance plan.
“Play is an adventure. It isn’t a chore. There is no right way to play.”
